If you’ve read our most recent blogs you’ll know this is a big moment for us as, after a long wait due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s finally time to announce the winner of our InspiringBusiness2019 competition!
So, (drumroll please), we are absolutely delighted to reveal the winner of a business support package worth more than £20,000 is… Flex Health!
Nick Miller, Managing Director of James Legal, said: “Once again, we were overwhelmed by the talent displayed by the many entrants and it has been no easy task to choose one winner from among them.
“It’s an honour to be able to give recognition to the very best in local business and, even more than that, we and all the partners are really looking forward to working with Flex Health in the year ahead, to help them develop their talent and potential.
“We chose Flex Health because their entry took our breath away, they truly are inspiring. Alex and Matt have created a brilliant company and are hugely focused on what they want to deliver, namely to change their clients’ lives for the better with an outstanding physiotherapy service. Some of their achievements are simply amazing.”
The impressive prize, provided by James Legal and our Inspiring Business partners, includes an array of practical business help, from legal support to funding guidance, accountancy and business planning services, mentoring from successful business owners, and health and fitness and mindfulness services to help them with managing the day-to-day stresses and strains that come with running your own business.
Amazing surprise
Founded in 2015 by Matt Booth and Alex Chester, Flex Health is a leading provider of physiotherapy and neurological physiotherapy in Hull, York and the surrounding areas. It uses clinically led, research-based, hands-on physiotherapy to manage patients’ symptoms and aid their recoveries. The team specialise in helping patients with a number of conditions and injuries, including osteoarthritis, brain injuries, spinal infection and stroke rehabilitation, and can also assess and treat all paediatric musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Flex Health Director Matt Booth said: “This is an amazing surprise and the whole team is absolutely delighted! It’s been a while since we entered the competition but we still had our fingers crossed and the suspense has made the win feel all the sweeter, this really is the best news we could’ve had in what’s been a tough year.
“It’s fantastic to see local businesses supporting each other in this way, and it’s great timing for us as we have some major development plans for the next few years. We’d like to launch a new website and do more promotional activity, and our main business objective for the coming year is to create a children’s physio outreach service, which will help all the under-16 sports groups in the community.
“We’ve taken two more people this year and will be recruiting another to take our team to 10, so we are still growing despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and hope to take on even more employees over the next few years.
“I know some of our team are particularly excited about the gym membership element of the prize! We really value our staff and it’s great to be able to recognise and reward them in this way.”

About InspiringBusiness
Created four years ago by James Legal, the campaign’s purpose is to give something back by supporting the outstanding Yorkshire & Humber businesses of the future in taking their offering to the next level.
So far, we have brought over 1,000 businesses together at our four annual seminars, and handed out business support worth over £70,000 to several annual competition winners. This prize is provided by James Legal in collaboration with our campaign partners Handelsbanken, cbaSadofskys Chartered Accountants, Computanet IT specialists, Click Digital, Peacock Finance, Peak Health and Fitness, and the Business Culture Hull. They are offering this year’s winner a selection of invaluable help in enhancing their business success, including business planning, funding and accountancy help, as well as, of course, legal services from James Legal.
We believe the wellbeing of hard-pressed business owners is just as important as the bottom line, too, and therefore our seminars and competition prize have a strong wellbeing theme, to encourage them to practice fitness and mindfulness, to keep them in the best physical and mental form for success.
Our impressive shortlist comprised: BREng Hull; Boutipi; Over the Moon Scents; East Riding Floors; AWS Developments; Jennifer Gilmour: Author & Advocate; Dixie Lorna; So… Visualis; Flex Health; BiPP Recruitment Limited; Salt Revive; SBR Eco Limited; iHatch-Apps Ltd and Unity in Community Ltd.
