Nurturing homegrown talent has always been an objective of James Legal and we’re particularly excited about our latest trainee appointments.
Four of our team members are about to embark on the Solicitors Qualifying Exam and the Conveyancing Technician Apprenticeship.
Four of our brightest
Anna Bisby, Jess Bennett, Lily Simpkin and Yasmin Palmer will spend the next two-and-a-half years training with the firm.
Having graduated Sheffield, Hull, and Newcastle University, respectively, Anna, Yasmin and Lily have begun their period of training on the way to qualifying as solicitors. Jess joined us in June 2018 and started her legal apprenticeship in January this year, which will qualify her as a conveyancing technician and then, hopefully, as a licensed conveyancer.
Anna and Lily have been working alongside our Senior Solicitor Byron Swarbrick and Managing Director Simon Young on areas of business law and dispute resolution. While Yasmin is working with Senior Solicitor and head of our Family Department, Dominic Hudson, and Jess is assisting our experienced Residential Property Team.
Managing Director Simon Young explained how, at James Legal, we’re all about our people and pride ourselves on the friendly, collaborative team culture, where everyone really goes that extra mile to help each other and, by doing so, the clients we serve.

“Over the years, growing our own has proved to be the best way of achieving the right mix of personalities and, therefore, the right team culture,” he said.
Senior Solicitor, Byron Swarbrick added:
“The team members we’ve chosen for these courses of study have really shone during their time with us. We chose them in the first place for their personalities and potential, and they’ve all really thrown themselves into being the best they can be.
“That’s why we’re investing in them in this way and we’re both proud and excited to see them take what they’ve learned so far to the next level.”
