Moving from eyelash styling and painting nails to working in a law firm isn’t necessarily the most obvious transition.
However, our new receptionist Kelly Williams is demonstrating why the two things complement each other perfectly.
The trained beautician, from Hull, has recently joined our Hull office to take on the vital role of receptionist, making her one of the first welcoming faces clients see when they walk through our doors.
Day-to-day, Kelly is responsible for greeting visitors and demonstrating our exceptional customer service from the moment people arrive. She also answers calls and fields them accordingly, addressing visitor questions and needs, and making them feel valued and at ease. As well as this, she carries out ad hoc administrative duties when needed.
She shared her thoughts on the role so far: “I’m finding it really interesting; I’ve already learnt so much about the industry that I never knew before. It’s also great to be surrounded by such a lovely team, and everyone is really welcoming and friendly,” she said.
Alongside working for James Legal, Kelly is continuing to carry out beauty treatments from home in her spare time and says the skills she’s learned from this have stood her in good stead for her job at James Legal.
“The customer service aspects of being a receptionist are second nature to me; I’ve always enjoyed meeting and talking to different people and making them feel special and at ease, that’s how I got into beauty,” she added.
A fresh start
Kelly’s now really enjoying adding a new string to her bow with the experience she’s gaining from us.
“It surprised me how modern and laid back the company is,” added Kelly. “It really isn’t how I imagined a solicitor’s office to be at all.
“I heard about the job through one of my eyelash clients, Lydia, who was working for James Legal as an apprentice. I was employed at a jewellery concession company at the time and was thrilled when the firm got in touch to arrange an interview.”
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys days out with her two children and socialising with friends and family.
“I’m really enjoying my time at James Legal, it stands out as a great company to work for and I feel lucky to be surrounded by such a brilliant team,” she concluded.
